Our Founder

Basia Pozin

Basia is a passionate banking professional that noticed early on in her career that many Canadians lacked basic money management skills. After graduating from the Schulich School of Business, Basia went on to pursue a National Management Training Program for Consumer Banking at one of the largest Canadian Banks. Upon completing the training, Basia became the youngest Branch Manager in Canada at the age of 23.

Working in retail banking allows Basia to witness first hand exactly where the knowledge gaps lie among Canadians in regards to their personal finances. These insights inspired Basia to work towards bridging these gaps.

Her professional experience allowed her to develop a wealth of knowledge about the best practices in personal finance. The more financial portfolios Basia reviewed, the more obvious it became that financially literate individuals who understand their investment options, maximize on government incentive programs, and leverage publicly available online resources, end up in significantly better financial health.

Unfortunately, financial literacy is not an official part of our academic curriculum in schools (check out this article written on the topic by Basia) and as such, many Canadians are left to fend for themselves. This was the inspiration behind Money Matters where Basia strives to make Financial Literacy accessible in a non-intimidating environment.

Every Money Matters class is filled with lively discussion, debate, and interactive activities to help participants enjoy learning about a topic that many people fear. Your hard earned money deserves your care and attention and at Money Matters we make sure you feel ready to tend to your finances with intention and confidence!
